ORIGINAL PAPER OR FILM SECTIONS ARE SCANNED AND VECTORISED INTO SEGY DATA FORMAT. POST STACK PROCESSING SUCH AS TIME VARIANT FILTERING AND MIGRATION ARE RUN ON THE DATA.  NAVIGATION DATA IS THEN INSERTED INTO SEGY TRACES FOR WORKSTATION LOADING.

VECTORISING PROCESS

RED SEGY TRACES ARE VECTORISED ONE BY ONE, ALSO TIMING LINES ARE IDENTIFIED BY MULTI-CHANNEL PATTERN RECOGNITION SOFTWARE AND DELETED.

PLOT ENABLES GOOD QC OF SEGY/RASTER CONVERSION QUALITY, TIME LINE DELETION, AND SEGY SP NUMBER/RASTER SP NUMBER.

NOTE- PRE 1985-95 PAPER PLOTS USUALLY USED A DIGITAL TO ANALOG PLOTTING SYSTEM THAT USED "THE 8 MOST SIGNIFICANT BITS" ONLY OF THE 32BIT DATA SAMPLE, RESULTING IN A SIGNIFICANT LOSS IN DYNAMIC RANGE, SO THE OUTPUT SEGY DATA LOOKS "FLAT AND LACKING IN DETAIL".

THIS LOSS IN DYNAMIC RANGE CANNOT BE RECOVERED.

A SIMPLE 4 CORNER POINT REFERENCE GRID (GREEN) IS OVERLAID ON THE RASTER PAPER IMAGE.

A RED GRID, REPRESENTING THE TIME/SPACE OF THE OUTPUT SEGY TRACES IS NOW OVERLAID.

ANY DISTORTIONS OF THE ORIGINAL RASTER PAPER IMAGE CAN BE CORRECTED. ERROR ON ANY SEGY TRACE IS LESS THAN +/- 4MSEC.
